Media Makeup strives “to be the pathway from passion to industry” offering quality training in Makeup artistry and Special Effects. 

The course is designed to equip the learner with all the skills necessary to gain employment within the Cosmetic, Fashion and Media Industries. Media Makeup is a dual provider offering both domestic and international programs.

The CEO Rebecca Cochrane has a wide range of industry experience from retail cosmetic makeup, to professional freelance artist for television, photography and fashion. Bec also specialises in Airbrushing and Special Effects Makeup. Bec is committed to maintaining the high standard of training at Media Makeup by having an active role in the classroom and ensuring the curriculum includes all of the latest trends, products and techniques.

The international focus of Media Makeup is what sets it apart from other nationally accredited courses. We travel regularly to trade shows worldwide, building relationships and opportunities for students whilst staying current with industry trends.



Media Makeup is located in heart of Adelaide off of the busy shopping district of Rundle Mall in the trendy lane way of James Place. 

James Place & Rundle Mall are walking streets, lined with Retail Outlets, Banks, Library, Restaurants & Bars, Coffee Shops and Food Courts all within a short walk from the Academy. This makes lunchtime an enjoyable and interesting time. 

Being located in the heart the city there is excellent public transport to anywhere in Adelaide. Including Trams, Buses and Trains. There is no parking available at the academy, however close by are many parking stations with an average of $13AUD per day for early bird parking (In the carpark before 9.30am) 

Media Makeup’s only neighbour in the building located on level 1 is Anytime Fitness. This a 24/7 Gym and health club, offering Media Makeup students special discount and rates to use the facilities across all of there health clubs Anywhere, Anytime.

Class Structure and Sizes

All classes are taught in English in a “Face to Face” environment. This means that is a traditional classroom structure with a trainer present in each lesson. International Students are combined in the classroom with Australian students.

All classes are designed for team and individual development and to provide the necessary hands on skills. personal attention with the highest quality facilitation and training. Media Makeup has small class sizes for more qualitiy of training and to allow for one on one time with your trainer.



In 2014 Media Makeup relocated to a brand new purpose built facility offering 5 classrooms, commercial photo studio, Prosthetics & Special Effects Lab, student lounge and Specific Retail store for the industry and students.

The commercial photo studio is used during the program to complete portfolio development with professional photographers, as well as student have access to the studio to take their own photos with the professional lighting and equipment.

All classrooms are equipped with Audio Visual Equipment, Apple TV’s, Specialised lighting, Makeup Stations and Student lockers.

Free WiFi is provided for all students throughout the building.

During classes students have access to all the tools, equipment, and products required to learn all of the skills necessary to become an industry professional makeup artist. All the products that we use are what are commonly used in the Industry.

Student have access to learning support materials such as Books, DVD’s, magazines and other resources.


Learning Approach

Media Makeup is a committed to offering the best learning environment to equip learners with industry skills required to work as a Makeup Artist in the Media Industries.  

Using a range of learning techniques that are suitable for adult learning such as e learning, theory lessons, practical demonstrations, practical makeup applications and work experience. Learners will receive a well-balanced approach delivered in a simulated work environment.


Our People

Our team of professionals are available throughout the Media Makeup experience offering a wide rang of support with over 15 years experience in Makeup Education. From academy support staff, mentors to retail makeup artists we have a team of people to assist your learning. 

Educators at Media Makeup are selected specifically for their expertise in the delivery of training in their areas of technical knowledge and experience, and will generally have a qualification of an equivalent or higher level relevant to the unit of competency/content taught and a minimum of 3 years of recent industry experience. Staff must have a high standard of communication skills, (interpersonal, oral and written) and personal presentation appropriate to the standards set by the industry. This includes the ability to assess the previously acquired competencies of students for the purposes of RPL.

All of our Educators are qualified in Training and Assessment as well as working in the industry. We have a wide variety of external consultants such as English Support, Counselling and Medical Services that are available as required.  Our Trainers 

Incidental Expenses, Makeup Products and Required Equipment

All Learners are required to have the necessary tools and equipment required to complete the course. Media Makeup offers Makeup Kits at very competitive prices which is included in the Incidental Expenses of the Course. The Makeup Kits include a full professional Makeup Kit (Including Case), Set of Makeup Brushes and Tools, Airbrush Kit, Hairstyling Kit, Special Effects Kit. In the Diploma program we use the Special Effects Lab to make prosthetics therefore we include a small “Lab Fee” to cove the cost of the consumable items that are used during these lessons. We understand that some students may already be in the industry and have some of these items, therefore it is not compulsory to purchase items if you already have them. 

Makeup Kits are to used to complete practice and provide you with the professional equipment required to work in the industry. Additional Makeup products that are not in the kits are supplied during sessions but students will also use their own kits during lessons to learn how to use is correctly. 

Media Makeup is the main PRO Supplier of MAKE UP FOR EVER for Australia. Students get the full benefit of this brand as we include a lot of the products in the kits and we use the products during lessons. Student also receive 25% professional discount of the products in the Media Makeup Store, so when it come to stock up its at the best price that is available.


Other Brands are also used in the kits such as MAC, Kryolan, Skin Illustrators and PPI, Elementwo, EVO, Ben Nye, MAQPRO, Smooth On and other leading brands in the industry.

Learners are required to supply the following item throughout the course: laptop,camera, makeup cape (hairdressing Cape), towels (at least 2 hand towels to place on workbench and for hair washing and one full size towel for showering), general stationary items (detail list is provide at enrolment) and responsible for replenishing items in your makeup kits as they run out 

Media Makeup has printers, scanners and photocopier available for students to use.
